Kevin Smith’s upcoming movie, Cop Out, might be the movie that finally establishes him as a legitimate filmmaker in the eyes of those who refuse to give him the credit he is due. I am not talking about me. I love the guy’s work. But I know there is a trolling community of Kevin Smith haters who refuse to get over the fact that he has been making movies that exist in his own little universe which goes by the name of View Askewniverse. A place where Jay and Silent Bob exist.

Kevin Smith’s last movie, Zack and Miri Make A Porno, did take place outside of the View Askewniverse, but there was still the same raunchy spirit carried over.

I don’t really give a crap if Kevin Smith was to keep making Jay and Silent Bob movies. As long as it’s Kevin Smith making the movie, I am down to see it.

Back to the point I was trying to get at, this movie doesn’t yell out to me that it’s a Kevin Smith production, but it still looks good. So this could be that movie that finally proves that the man can do mainstream movies outside of his own script.
