Condensed Movie News
Condensed Movie News is a daily roundup list of interesting news tidbits that came out today, but weren’t big enough to warrant a full post.

Today was a lackluster news day. So here are a few quick news bits for you to nibble on.

  • As media attention on Tron Legacy continues to grow, Disney is already looking into creating a animated TV show as a way to keep interesting going for the series even after the 2nd movie has come and gone. The rumored plan is to make Tron a trilogy. I am all for that as long as we get Daft Punk to score the 3rd movie as well.

  • Sin City director, Robert Rodriguez, will be showcasing some footage of his upcoming movie, Predators at the South By Southwest festival in Austin, Texas. Predators is a prequel to the classic Arnold Schwarzenegger movie, Predator. South By Southwest (or “SXSW” as it is abbreviated) starts March 12th and goes on until the 21st.
  • All 12 X-Men Origins: Wolverine fans rejoice! A sequel to the Wolverine origins story will officially start filming next January, 2011. Hopefully, this time they can make Wolverine’s claws not look like the work of an After Effects newb. Also, I am looking forward to seeing this movie because I liked the 1st movie. Hate on it all you want. I know it was dumb, but it was still a fun action movie for me. I don’t exactly hold the bar very high for comic based action movies that center around loner men who are filled with generic rage.
  • Dr. Horrible Neil Patrick Harris will be starring in the upcoming Smurfs movie. Did I mention there is going to be a Smurfs Movie? No?  Yeah, you can see what I mean by lackluster news day.
    ~ First Showing
  • The cast of the Jersey Shore has been doing some Oscar parody videos for George Lopez. I thought the videos were just alright, but since I am not one to judge what everyone else thinks is funny, I’ll post the link here to the videos and let you decided on whether or not you should spend your time watching Snooki pretend she is Lt. Aldo Raine from Inglourious Basterds, or if your time is much better spent playing Bejewled. That game is so much fun guys!

New Nightmare On Elm Street Poster

Posted in News on Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010 by Rob Heath | Comments

A Nightmare On Elm Street 2010
This new poster made me laugh because the image really doesn’t go along with the tag line. “He knows where you sleep.” So, apparently, Freddy knows some girl sleeps standing up in a random 3 foot puddle in the middle of her house. Clearly, this shows why Freddy is such an intelligent villain. Shit, if I was going to stalk a girl, I would never guess she slept in a 3 foot puddle in the hall of her house. I would just look through her bedroom window and call it a day when I don’t see her silhouette across the bed.

Damn, Freddy, you really are a master stalker! Check out the new poster in the full post.

Deathrace Boromir

You know what I have REALLY been dying to see lately? A DEATH RACE PREQUEL STARRING THAT DUDE FROM LORD OF THE RINGS! Yah! That would be awesome.

Wait… what?! That’s actually happening? OH. MY. GOD. Wait… but does it have that dude from Hellboy in it? It does?! HOLE.LEE.SHIT!

Ok, ok. Sarcasm aside, yeah, a prequel of the Death Race 2008 remake is going into production soon. The movie will be called Death Race: Frankenstein Lives. I would ask why, but I already know why. Because Paul W. S. Anderson (director of Death Race) needs money to produce another 5 Resident Evil movie sequels to keep his wife working. Yeah, I went there! OOOOOOOOOO snap.

That was mean. Let me make it up to you, Paul, by publishing some details on your upcoming movie. That should help get the word out!

Details in the full post.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is the latest book by Seth Grahame-Smith, whom previous works include Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. So Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter JUST came out today (March 2nd), and already there are plans to adapt it into a live action movie. Attached to the project is Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov (director of Wanted). No other details on what exactly Tim and Timur (haha, Timur is like the Russian version of Tim) will be doing for the project. My guess is Tim Burton will produce while Timur Bekmambetov directs.

If the movie is anything like the promotional trailer above that is used to serve the book, I am in. Just make sure you get Daniel Day Lewis as Lincoln. I would like to see a behind the scenes featurette of Lewis in totally serious method actor mode as he pretends to be a dead president who hunts vampires.

Bruce Willis in Goriilaz music video, Stylo

Being a big fan of Gorillaz, I am already excited for the release of their new album, Plastic Beach, which comes out March 9th for us folks here in the United States. But now Gorillaz releases a music video for their first single, Stylo, which stars Bruce Willis as an unnamed man who is chasing down the fictional troupe at high speeds. Gorillaz + Bruce Willis in awesome music video = YESSSSSSSSSSSSS

The video made me laugh a few times. It’s that good ol’ Gorillaz style of a set of bizarre string of events that never really get explained. But the mystery behind it all is what keeps me loving it and wanting more.

Check out the video in the full post.

The Real Buzz Lightyear

Posted in Drooling Over | News on Wednesday, February 24th, 2010 by Rob Heath | Comments

The Real Buzz Lightyear

Over the years I have seen a few good photoshop portraits of media (often cartoon) icons transformed into somewhat photo realistic versions of themselves (minus the realistic body proportions). But I have never seen a portrait done with this level of detail and awesomeness before.

This portrait is of Pixar’s Buzz Lightyear, who we all know from the Toy Story franchise. This masterpiece was done by the artist Raoni Nery, using ZBrush, 3D Studio Max, and Photoshop.

Paramount has pushed Kenneth Branagh directed ‘Thor’s release date up two week from May 20, 2011 to May 6, 2011, the weekend Spider-Man 4 was supposed to come out. This jump is due to Sony admitting Spider-Man 4’s release date might have to be pushed back due to issue’s with the script, although there are rumors floating around that there’s more to it than that.

It’s not official that Spider-Man 4 will be pushed back and by some miracle it could actually make it’s release date seeing as how Sony hasn’t officially let May 6th go yet and if that happens then we’ll have two comic book films butting heads the same weekend. ‘Thor’s’ old release date was immediately taken by Disney for their new ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ film.

‘Thor’ stars Natalie Portman, Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins, and Samuel L. Jackson.
