Iron Man 2 Movie Trailer

Derm it! Just when I thought it was safe to take a week off to do some back end work on the site, two new awesome movie trailers come out that demand posting.
One of which is the latest trailer for Iron Man 2.

The trailer seems to be an extension of the first trailer, showcasing some before and after of scenes showed in the previous trailer. Check out the trailer in the full post along with some of my speculative thoughts.

Legend of the Guardians - Directed by Zack Synder
Perhaps it’s the use of the song “Kings and Queens” (which ironically enough starts off with the sound of an eagle) by 30 Seconds to Mars that makes this trailer seem a little off to me. The song is played with a very hopeful, inspirational vibe, but I can’t get over that I am watching a trailer for a movie about birds. Owls, to be exact. Like, if these were humans, I could totally buy into it, and I would probably be in to see the movie. But it’s a movie about legendary owls who only seem to fly in the rain, or when the sun is setting. You know… to make it all the more touching.

I don’t know. Maybe I am just being pissy today and taking it out on this innocent owl movie. But I do recognize that the artistry in this movie is pretty bad ass. I’ll call off my aggression and wait until I see the movie in theaters before I decide to publicly shit on or endorse the movie.

The movie is adapted from the popular book series, Guardians of Ga’Hoole.

Synopsis:

Soren, a young barn owl, is kidnapped by owls of St. Aggie’s, ostensibly an orphanage, where owlets are brainwashed into becoming soldiers. He and his new friends escape to the island of Ga’Hoole, to assist its noble, wise owls who fight the army being created by the wicked rulers of St. Aggie’s.

The film is based on the first three books in the series. ~IMDB

The Karate Kid starring Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan

Ok! From here on out, I will no longer be talking about how low my expectations were for The Karate Kid remake. I am done! Wait… didn’t I say that last time? Whatevs. This new trailer for The Karate Kid is just as awesome as the original. Nay. Even better! The larger  focus on training in this trailer makes the movie even more appealing. Folks, I am really looking forward to seeing this movie. GO, KARATE KID! GO!

The Last Airbender

Last Super Bowl Sunday, we were all treated to a historic game, a few good commercials, and, by far, my favorite thing, The Last Airbender teaser trailer. Now, the trailer that premiered during the Super Bowl was actually a cut down version of the current trailer we have for you today. This new full length trailer focuses a little bit more on the story of The Last Airbender and main character, Aang (the last airbender).

I liked The Last Airbender TV series (correctly titled Avatar: The Last Airbender) which the movie is based on. I like M. Night Shyamalan’s work for the most part. And I am loving this trailer. All the signs point to good things, in my opinion.

I am also keeping in mind that Avatar: The Last Airbender is indeed a kid to teenage show, so I’ll leave my grown man mind set at home when I go to see this movie in theaters.

Check out the feature length trailer for The Last Airbender in the full post.

Tekken Movie

I won’t be putting Tekken on my high priority list of movies to see, but being that it’s a movie based off a video game, I feel as if I have an obligation to see it. My guess is that the movie is gonna be crap, but I do appreciate that the movie actually takes premise from the video game instead of just borrowing the game title and some principle characters while totally making up its own bullshit story, like Street Fighter, Resident Evil, and Mario Bros. Plus, it’s a movie about a fighting tournament with contenders who possess supernatural fighting skills (at times), so that should make for some interesting action scenes if executed properly.

While on the subject of the action scenes, why don’t you take a look at a set of behind the scenes clips of the stunt men in Tekken. I always like seeing how much effort goes into cool fight scenes. Sometimes months of training converts into a quarter minute of screen time, but damn, it’s worth it!

I have included clips, movie trailer, and a few movie stills in the full post. Check it!

Clash Of The Titans Trailer

Sam Worthington should be eating well these days. It’s rare to turn on the TV these days and not see his face. And now he is the star of the highest grossing movie of all time. Not to shabby. I mean, I was offered the part of Jake Sully in Avatar but I had to turn James Cameron down because I wanted to do a little indie movie to build my critic favor.

But that’s besides the point. A new trailer for Clash Of The Titans has hit the interwebs, and we got it here for your viewing pleasure. So check it out in the full post.

‘500 Days of Summer’ Review

Posted in Featured | Reviews on Thursday, January 7th, 2010 by Veronica R. | Comments

“Darling…I don’t know how to tell you this but, there’s a Chinese family in our restroom.”

I finally caught ‘500 Days of Summer’ on DVD after much urging from my friends. When I originally saw the trailer to this film, I had to real desire to watch it because I put it into the ‘just another romantic comedy’ category. I was wrong. Dead Wrong.

Someone sent me the link to this awesome trailer warning me that I might need to sit down before I click on it. Luckily I was and I was fully ready for the awesomeness that is coming in 2010! A live action adaptation of the science fiction anime ‘Space Battleship Yamato’ or as it was renamed for the english-dub ‘Star Blazers’.

Starring one of my favorite Japanese actors, Takuya Kimura, the film tells the tale of the inhabitants of earth who are forced to live underground because of an alien race that is dropping radioactive bombs on the surface. Following the reception of a mysterious message of hope the people of earth secretly build a space ship to go out into the galaxy in search of a device to help them reclaim their planet.
