This is just a quick reminder to everyone that you need to get your jive ass to your local video store and pick up Black Dynamite on DVD or Blu-Ray today! The movie JUST HIT store shelves. Black Dynamite was on my top 10 list for best movies of 2009, so you know it has my seal of approval.

I am not one to promote a single DVD release, but I feel this movie didn’t get the attention / wide theatrical release it deserved so I am posting about it here in hopes of getting Black Dynamite any additional attention I can help it grab.

Need some convincing before you pick up Black Dynamite? No problem. We got clips in the full post for your viewing pleasure.

Directed by Duncan Jones, this sci-fi film follows Sam Bell who is about to finish his 3 year stint mining on the Moon. His sole companion is his computer Gery, voiced by Kevin Spacey and his only contact with the outside world are satellite messages from his family. With the feeling of isolation closing, an accident leads Sam to question himself and the world he knows. I haven’t seen this film but I will soon. It looks really interesting and it made number 1 on Rob’s top films of 2009. So check it out…NOW. Rated R. Out on Blu-Ray and DVD.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs – Staring: Bill Hader, Anna Faris, Bruce Cambell, Andy Samberg, James Caan

Based off of a book by the same title, this film follows Flint, an inventor whose creations never quite turn out like they’re supposed to. His latest endeavor has caused food to rain from the sky destroying the town in the process. As greed takes over most of the town’s inhabitants because food apparently equals money, it’s up to a small group including Flint to save the town and those who live within it. I watched this film with my daughter and I wasn’t really expecting much but it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. I think I enjoyed it more than she did. It was witty, funny, suspenseful, and most of all fun. I highly recommend you watch it! Rated PG and out on Blu-Ray and DVD.

Paranormal Activity – Katie Featherson, Micah Sloat

Directed by Oren Peli, this indie horror flick actually delivers the scare it promises.. or so I’ve been told. I’m way too chicken to watch it. I don’t do horror movies. I like to sleep peacefully at night, and, from what I’ve heard about this movie from everyone who has seen it, I would most likely be quivering under my kitchen table with all the lights on, a helmet on my head, and a baseball bat in hand. It tells the story of a couple who move into a new house. Their excitement wears off when they realize strange things are happening, and to prove their suspicions, they decide to videotape everything. You watch the story through their single camera, much like the Blair witch project. I hear people were crying and screaming in the theater while watching this. If you’re up to it, buy the DVD and bring it into your home…I dare you. Rated R. Out on Blu-Ray and DVD. Also features an alternate ending not seen in theaters. A limited collector’s edition is also available, which includes a single cell from the film and a t-shirt! Goody!

The sixth film in the series is out! Did you guys pass out from excitement? No? Still with me? Good. This one picks up where the last one left off. Harry has been labeled as the “Chosen One” to battle Lord Voldemort. He discovers a book belonging to a mysterious Half-Blood prince that aids him greatly while Dumbledore prepares him for the difficult task that lies ahead. Hogwarts school is constantly under attack from dark forces making this Harry potter one of the darkest yet. It’s being released as a Blu-Ray/ DVD combo with a digital copy and BD Live which allows those of you with a Blu-Ray player that connects tot he internet to access additional content. Of course you can just get it as a regular DVD but why would you do that? Rated PG. Harry Potter Year 1-6 is also available for purchase and includes all 6 of the Harry Potter films as a set.

He runs into trouble with Kahmunrah (Hank Azaria), an evil Pharaoh bent on creating chaos.
