The Real Buzz Lightyear

The Real Buzz Lightyear

Over the years I have seen a few good photoshop portraits of media (often cartoon) icons transformed into somewhat photo realistic versions of themselves (minus the realistic body proportions). But I have never seen a portrait done with this level of detail and awesomeness before.

This portrait is of Pixar’s Buzz Lightyear, who we all know from the Toy Story franchise. This masterpiece was done by the artist Raoni Nery, using ZBrush, 3D Studio Max, and Photoshop.

Inception Movie Trailer

You know what I strongly dislike? Vague movie trailers. You know what I dislike even more? A secondary trailer for a movie that is just as vague as the first trailer.

Ok, Christopher Nolan. You can keep on making your mysterious movie trailers knowing damn well that no matter how confused your audience is, we will still buy a ticket to see your movie. The successes of The Dark Knight has granted you such power. But, come on, man! We all REALLY want to know what your latest movie, Inception, is all about.

So, the vagueness of your first trailer was fine because it caught our attention, but you’re supposed to clear all that up and give us at least a simple idea of what your movie is about in your second trailer.

Oh well. I guess I will just have to wait for trailer three to come out to understand what the hell is going on in this movie.

Check out the new trailer for Inception in the full post.

Iron Man 2 Movie Trailer

Posted in Drooling Over | Featured | Trailers on Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009 by Rob Heath | Comments

Better late than never, or so the saying goes. During our two week office move hiatus, we missed out on covering the debut of one of the most anticipated movie trailers. That trailer would be Iron Man 2, of course.

While most of you have probably seen it by now, there is still a significant amount of people who have yet to gaze upon this trailer, so this late post goes out to them. If one person sees this trailer for the first time through this post, then I have done my job.

Check out the Iron Man 2 movie trailer in the full post.

Kick-Ass is starting to gather a lot of good feedback from the critics lucky enough to see it. Recently it was shown at AICN’s Butt-Numb-A-Thon where it received lots of praises. For those who don’t know, Kick-Ass is an upcoming film adapted from the popular comic by Mark Millar.

I went out to my local comic store and picked up volumes 1-3 when I first heard the news about Kick-Ass being produced into a movie. Since then new volumes have come out, but I will resist picking them up to keep myself in the dark about what happens after the material in Vol 3 is covered in the movie.

I thoroughly enjoyed volumes 1-3 of the comic and from what I have seen of the teaser trailer, the movie looks to be shaping up to deliver the goods.

We have two videos for ya in this post. Both center around the cute, yet very lethal heroine, Hit Girl. One is a clip from the movie, the other is a trailer. If you watch them back to back, they sort of tie in together, so watch ‘em in the order that I post.

Iron Man 2 Whiplash

Finally! A new image of Iron Man 2’s Whiplash has debuted online in the form of a movie poster. The poster is the best so far for the movie. I am just so excited at this point to see Mickey Rourke play this bad ass looking character.

Check out the poster in the full post.

We recently brought you the trailer for Jean Claude Van Damme’s new action packed Universal Soldier 3, but now we have something better! Written, directed, and starring JCVD, The Eagle Path brings you back to the old days of Van Damme glory. This film was first announced under the name ‘Full Love,’ but honestly, that sounds like a cheesy romantic comedy. Van Damme portrays ‘Frenchy,’ a military veteran-turned-taxi-driver with a dark past that he is determined to rectify. He comes across Sophia (Claudia Bassols) and takes it upon himself to protect her with the help of his ex-mercenary friends. This film also stars John Colton, Josef Cannon, Chuck DiMaria, and Adam Karst. Doesn’t that sound like the formula for an entertaining JCVD film? Hell yes! Read the full post for the extended trailer!

Yes! My dreams have come to fruition! Brand new Japanese gore-action company Sushi Typhoon is bringing us Alien vs Ninja, an action-packed film set in the past and focusing on the  battle between  mysterious blood thirsty aliens and bad ass ninjas. Yamata, the leader of the Iga ninjas who plan to fight the creatures only to discover their fighting methods are useless. As the aliens feast on the flesh of their fallen brothers, they must find a novel to take down these aliens if they want to remain alive.

Directed by Seiji Chiba, Alien vs Ninja will star Masanori Minamoto, Shuji Kashiwabara, Donpei Tsuchihira, and Mika Hijii. This film should have pretty fantastic action scenes given that it will be choreographed by Yuji Shinomura and Kensuke Sonomura.

Prince Of Persia

Could this be the first honest video-game-to-film-adaption that stands on its own as a genuine kick-ass movie? Time will tell; but from the looks of this trailer, signs point to f*ck yeah!

For those who don’t know, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time is the upcoming movie adaption of the popular video game of the same name by Ubisoft. I would try to explain the game but, to be honest, I never played it cause I was a poor school student who had other games on my agenda to buy. Wikipedia it or something… gosh.

Check out the trailer for the movie in the full post.

Mary and Max Trailer

Posted in Drooling Over | Featured | News on Tuesday, October 20th, 2009 by Rob Heath | Comments

Mary and Max

Aside from The Nightmare Before Christmas, I have never really appreciated any claymation movies. It may be odd, but something just puts me off when I see them. Even after hearing all the rave about Coraline, I still wasn’t really interested.

I do feel a sense of revival in my interest for claymation movies after seeing this trailer for Mary and Max. I think I know why too. It’s the fluid animation in this trailer that really has me liking it. Most of the claymation / stop motion movies that come out have noticeably choppy animation. This is just the nature of the medium. While this isn’t a reason for me to ignore the medium, I do believe, in the back of my mind, I have subconsciously been passing on anything that utilizes such styles because of the lack of fluid animation. Just like when I look back at old 80s-90s cartoons / anime. I have a hard time watching it because the animation is so choppy.

This trailer for Mary and Max looks amazing though. It’s sooooo fluid! The plot looks interesting and goofy enough, but I’ll be honest, I really want to see it for the visuals.

Trailer and Synopsis in the full post. Enjoy!
