Lars Von Trier Tourism Commercial - The Onion Video

I gotta hand it to The Onion for creating this video. It’s not like the works of Lars Von Trier are that well known by your average mainstream audience member. But I am glad they made this excellent video poking fun at the “artistic” styles of Von Trier mixed with tourism commercials.

Lars Von Trier is known around the film world for such works as Antichrist, Dancer in the Dark, and Europa, to name a few.

Check out the humorous video in the full post.

Tekken Movie

I won’t be putting Tekken on my high priority list of movies to see, but being that it’s a movie based off a video game, I feel as if I have an obligation to see it. My guess is that the movie is gonna be crap, but I do appreciate that the movie actually takes premise from the video game instead of just borrowing the game title and some principle characters while totally making up its own bullshit story, like Street Fighter, Resident Evil, and Mario Bros. Plus, it’s a movie about a fighting tournament with contenders who possess supernatural fighting skills (at times), so that should make for some interesting action scenes if executed properly.

While on the subject of the action scenes, why don’t you take a look at a set of behind the scenes clips of the stunt men in Tekken. I always like seeing how much effort goes into cool fight scenes. Sometimes months of training converts into a quarter minute of screen time, but damn, it’s worth it!

I have included clips, movie trailer, and a few movie stills in the full post. Check it!

District 9 Neill Blomkamp

It’s not often that you hear anything but plugs from Hollywood directors for their upcoming movies. And when you do hear something other than a plug, it’s usually just some sort of circle jerk talk that includes name dropping and discussion on previous movie works of their own.

So it brings me great joy to hear such an amazing speech from a director that not only doesn’t aim to plug his movie, but really gets the mental gears moving and has me thinking about what he said for hours on end.

The speech I am talking about is this TEDx (an annual multidisciplinary conference) video featuring District 9 director, Neill Blomkamp in which he discusses his theories on alien life forms across the various surrounding galaxies, evolution of planets and life forms, and the growth of technology. That might sound like a lot of different topics to talk about, but they all correlate with one another. Just watch and you will see. It’s pretty mind blowing to think about what Neill has to say. Check it out in the full post.

Avatar Bootleg

We all know that movie pirating will never stop no matter how many walls the movie industry puts up to stop it.  Just like humans, the pirating culture will evolve to overcome all obstacles that stand in its way. James Cameron’s Avatar is no exception. With the moving being completely 3D, it’s near impossible for bootleggers to try pirating the movie.

The question is, who can overcome the obstacle of bootlegging a 3D movie and deliver the ultimate camcorder viewing experience to the masses? The answer is this man:

The Boondocks

I am gonna take a minute here to discuss something that is not movie related. It’s TV related. Yes, we do that here sometimes. We’re professional like that.

So Christmas came and went. Santa gave me a few good presents, but today I learned that the best present has yet to come. This present is a new season of the popular Adult Swim show, The Boondocks. A western anime stylized show based on the popular Aaron McGruder comic strip that satires issues in America and racial and pop culture stereotypes.

The Boondocks creator Aaron McGruder “tweeted” the following on December 24th:

Finally got an airdate for Season 3. Not sure if I’m allowed to put it out yet, so I’ll just say you got about three months! Merry Xmas!!
~twitter.com/AaronMcGruder

The Boondocks has aired two seasons so far on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim programming slot. It was nominated for Outstanding Comedy Series at the 37th NAACP Image Awards. The show has a large following and, to this day, is still brought up between me and some of my friends as we joke about different episodes and how we can relate them to real life events and people we see.

As far as TV shows go, it’s one of my favorites. If you have not seen The Boondocks yet, you need to get your ass to Best Buy or FYE and pick up a season.

I posted a couple clips from the show in the full post. Did I mention the show has one of the coolest opening songs?

Also, if you want to see some sneak peak screens of the upcoming Season 3, head on over to Aaron’s twitter and check his tweet history for image links.

Another clip was released today showcasing the process of adding all the cool alien makeup effects to the main character, Wikus.

Wanna know where you can go to see that clip? IN DA FULL POST, YA’LL!

/Film got a hold of a behind the scenes clip showcasing the creative process behind creating the unique alien weaponry in District 9. It’s a rather interesting clip, so check it out.

Kick-Ass is starting to gather a lot of good feedback from the critics lucky enough to see it. Recently it was shown at AICN’s Butt-Numb-A-Thon where it received lots of praises. For those who don’t know, Kick-Ass is an upcoming film adapted from the popular comic by Mark Millar.

I went out to my local comic store and picked up volumes 1-3 when I first heard the news about Kick-Ass being produced into a movie. Since then new volumes have come out, but I will resist picking them up to keep myself in the dark about what happens after the material in Vol 3 is covered in the movie.

I thoroughly enjoyed volumes 1-3 of the comic and from what I have seen of the teaser trailer, the movie looks to be shaping up to deliver the goods.

We have two videos for ya in this post. Both center around the cute, yet very lethal heroine, Hit Girl. One is a clip from the movie, the other is a trailer. If you watch them back to back, they sort of tie in together, so watch ‘em in the order that I post.

The Dark Knight Plot Hole Song

The entire world is pretty much in agreement that The Dark Knight was awesome. But there are a few of us nerds out there who feel the need to analyze every inch of the movie and point out any plot holes. It’s a sad character trait, but sometimes the trait is inherited to the right people. The right people meaning people that can make awesome music videos pointing out plot holes in movies. Which is exactly what we have in the clip embeded in this post.

Check out the video in the full post.

George Lucas Lawsuit

Covering this video is sort of stretching our range, but damn it, this is just too cool to not share. Io9 recently posted a pretty sweet video showcasing a man controlling a robotic hand with his mere brain force powers.

The video does feel reminiscent of  the ending scene in The Empire Strikes Back where Luke is having his replacement robotic hand attached to his arm. The narration in the video just adds to that comparison.

I have attached the video in the full post.
