Iron Man 2 Movie Trailer

Derm it! Just when I thought it was safe to take a week off to do some back end work on the site, two new awesome movie trailers come out that demand posting.
One of which is the latest trailer for Iron Man 2.

The trailer seems to be an extension of the first trailer, showcasing some before and after of scenes showed in the previous trailer. Check out the trailer in the full post along with some of my speculative thoughts.

Legend of the Guardians - Directed by Zack Synder
Perhaps it’s the use of the song “Kings and Queens” (which ironically enough starts off with the sound of an eagle) by 30 Seconds to Mars that makes this trailer seem a little off to me. The song is played with a very hopeful, inspirational vibe, but I can’t get over that I am watching a trailer for a movie about birds. Owls, to be exact. Like, if these were humans, I could totally buy into it, and I would probably be in to see the movie. But it’s a movie about legendary owls who only seem to fly in the rain, or when the sun is setting. You know… to make it all the more touching.

I don’t know. Maybe I am just being pissy today and taking it out on this innocent owl movie. But I do recognize that the artistry in this movie is pretty bad ass. I’ll call off my aggression and wait until I see the movie in theaters before I decide to publicly shit on or endorse the movie.

The movie is adapted from the popular book series, Guardians of Ga’Hoole.

Synopsis:

Soren, a young barn owl, is kidnapped by owls of St. Aggie’s, ostensibly an orphanage, where owlets are brainwashed into becoming soldiers. He and his new friends escape to the island of Ga’Hoole, to assist its noble, wise owls who fight the army being created by the wicked rulers of St. Aggie’s.

The film is based on the first three books in the series. ~IMDB

Condensed Movie News
Condensed Movie News is a daily roundup list of interesting news tidbits that came out today, but weren’t big enough to warrant a full post.

Today was a lackluster news day. So here are a few quick news bits for you to nibble on.

  • As media attention on Tron Legacy continues to grow, Disney is already looking into creating a animated TV show as a way to keep interesting going for the series even after the 2nd movie has come and gone. The rumored plan is to make Tron a trilogy. I am all for that as long as we get Daft Punk to score the 3rd movie as well.
    ~ Collider
  • Sin City director, Robert Rodriguez, will be showcasing some footage of his upcoming movie, Predators at the South By Southwest festival in Austin, Texas. Predators is a prequel to the classic Arnold Schwarzenegger movie, Predator. South By Southwest (or “SXSW” as it is abbreviated) starts March 12th and goes on until the 21st.
  • All 12 X-Men Origins: Wolverine fans rejoice! A sequel to the Wolverine origins story will officially start filming next January, 2011. Hopefully, this time they can make Wolverine’s claws not look like the work of an After Effects newb. Also, I am looking forward to seeing this movie because I liked the 1st movie. Hate on it all you want. I know it was dumb, but it was still a fun action movie for me. I don’t exactly hold the bar very high for comic based action movies that center around loner men who are filled with generic rage.
  • Dr. Horrible Neil Patrick Harris will be starring in the upcoming Smurfs movie. Did I mention there is going to be a Smurfs Movie? No?  Yeah, you can see what I mean by lackluster news day.
    ~ First Showing
  • The cast of the Jersey Shore has been doing some Oscar parody videos for George Lopez. I thought the videos were just alright, but since I am not one to judge what everyone else thinks is funny, I’ll post the link here to the videos and let you decided on whether or not you should spend your time watching Snooki pretend she is Lt. Aldo Raine from Inglourious Basterds, or if your time is much better spent playing Bejewled. That game is so much fun guys!

After.Life Movie Trailer

Posted in First Look | Trailers on Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010 by Rob Heath | Comments

After.Life Movie starring Christina Ricci, Liam Neeson, and Justin Long

The trailer for Christina Ricci’s latest movie, After.Life, has popped up online. The movie actually finished production back in December of 2008, but it is just now about to hit theaters in the United States in April (9th).

Synopsis:

After a horrific car accident, Anna (Christina Ricci) wakes up to find the local funeral director Eliot Deacon (Liam Neeson) preparing her body for her funeral. Confused, terrified, and feeling still very much alive, Anna doesn’t believe she’s dead, despite the funeral director’s reassurances that she is merely in transition to the afterlife. Eliot convinces her he has the ability to communicate with the dead and is the only one who can help her. Trapped inside the funeral home, with nobody to turn to except Eliot, Anna is forced to face her deepest fears and accept her own death. But Anna’s grief-stricken boyfriend Paul (Justin Long) still can’t shake the nagging suspicion that Eliot isn’t what he appears to be. As the funeral nears, Paul gets closer to unlocking the disturbing truth, but it could be too late; Anna may have already begun to cross over to the other side. ~IMDB

Check out the movie trailer for After.Life in the full post. Caution: The word “dead” is said in trailer almost a million times. Literally… kinda… not really. But still, literally almost a billion times ;) .

New Nightmare On Elm Street Poster

Posted in News on Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010 by Rob Heath | Comments

A Nightmare On Elm Street 2010
This new poster made me laugh because the image really doesn’t go along with the tag line. “He knows where you sleep.” So, apparently, Freddy knows some girl sleeps standing up in a random 3 foot puddle in the middle of her house. Clearly, this shows why Freddy is such an intelligent villain. Shit, if I was going to stalk a girl, I would never guess she slept in a 3 foot puddle in the hall of her house. I would just look through her bedroom window and call it a day when I don’t see her silhouette across the bed.

Damn, Freddy, you really are a master stalker! Check out the new poster in the full post.

Deathrace Boromir

You know what I have REALLY been dying to see lately? A DEATH RACE PREQUEL STARRING THAT DUDE FROM LORD OF THE RINGS! Yah! That would be awesome.

Wait… what?! That’s actually happening? OH. MY. GOD. Wait… but does it have that dude from Hellboy in it? It does?! HOLE.LEE.SHIT!

Ok, ok. Sarcasm aside, yeah, a prequel of the Death Race 2008 remake is going into production soon. The movie will be called Death Race: Frankenstein Lives. I would ask why, but I already know why. Because Paul W. S. Anderson (director of Death Race) needs money to produce another 5 Resident Evil movie sequels to keep his wife working. Yeah, I went there! OOOOOOOOOO snap.

That was mean. Let me make it up to you, Paul, by publishing some details on your upcoming movie. That should help get the word out!

Details in the full post.

Alice In Wonderland Wallpaper

Alice In Wonderland Desktop Wallpapers

Alice In Wonderland is opening this weekend. So naturally this week’s wallpaper is on Alice In Wonderland. I’ll admit I had a lot of fun creating a montage of all the cool movie stills put out for the movie. Of course, it helps that the movie stills are from a Tim Burton movie, which are already loaded with creative flare.

You can download all the wallpapers in the full post.

Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter is the latest book by Seth Grahame-Smith, whom previous works include Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. So Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter JUST came out today (March 2nd), and already there are plans to adapt it into a live action movie. Attached to the project is Tim Burton and Timur Bekmambetov (director of Wanted). No other details on what exactly Tim and Timur (haha, Timur is like the Russian version of Tim) will be doing for the project. My guess is Tim Burton will produce while Timur Bekmambetov directs.

If the movie is anything like the promotional trailer above that is used to serve the book, I am in. Just make sure you get Daniel Day Lewis as Lincoln. I would like to see a behind the scenes featurette of Lewis in totally serious method actor mode as he pretends to be a dead president who hunts vampires.

Prince Of Persia: The Sands Of Time - Starring Jake Gyllenhaal

After watching this second trailer for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, I am convinced of two things:

1. This movie will be as intelligent as a lobotomized inbred goat,

2. That doesn’t matter because there will be enough visual distractions and epic action sequences to keep my mind too occupied to notice the lack of an intelligent plot.

Luckily for me, I never got to play any of the Prince of Persia video games in which this movie is based off of. So I won’t have anything to hold the movie up against in comparison to.

That being said, why don’t you take a gander at the trailer in the full post. It’s quite pretty. Ooooooo, pretty.

Bruce Willis in Goriilaz music video, Stylo

Being a big fan of Gorillaz, I am already excited for the release of their new album, Plastic Beach, which comes out March 9th for us folks here in the United States. But now Gorillaz releases a music video for their first single, Stylo, which stars Bruce Willis as an unnamed man who is chasing down the fictional troupe at high speeds. Gorillaz + Bruce Willis in awesome music video = YESSSSSSSSSSSSS

The video made me laugh a few times. It’s that good ol’ Gorillaz style of a set of bizarre string of events that never really get explained. But the mystery behind it all is what keeps me loving it and wanting more.

Check out the video in the full post.
