It’s not often that you hear anything but plugs from Hollywood directors for their upcoming movies. And when you do hear something other than a plug, it’s usually just some sort of circle jerk talk that includes name dropping and discussion on previous movie works of their own.

So it brings me great joy to hear such an amazing speech from a director that not only doesn’t aim to plug his movie, but really gets the mental gears moving and has me thinking about what he said for hours on end.

The speech I am talking about is this TEDx (an annual multidisciplinary conference) video featuring District 9 director, Neill Blomkamp in which he discusses his theories on alien life forms across the various surrounding galaxies, evolution of planets and life forms, and the growth of technology. That might sound like a lot of different topics to talk about, but they all correlate with one another. Just watch and you will see. It’s pretty mind blowing to think about what Neill has to say.
