Based off of a book by the same title, this film follows Flint, an inventor whose creations never quite turn out like they’re supposed to. His latest endeavor has caused food to rain from the sky destroying the town in the process. As greed takes over most of the town’s inhabitants because food apparently equals money, it’s up to a small group including Flint to save the town and those who live within it. I watched this film with my daughter and I wasn’t really expecting much but it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. I think I enjoyed it more than she did. It was witty, funny, suspenseful, and most of all fun. I highly recommend you watch it! Rated PG and out on Blu-Ray and DVD.
The Final Destination – Starring: Bobby Campo, Shantel VanSanten, Nick Zano, Haley Webb
The fourth film in this series brings you more gruesome elaborate deaths as the first three. After Nick saves his friends from death at the racetracks thanks to a premonition, he quickly realizes that they’re not going to escape the inevitable so easily. I’ve seen the first Final Destination and I felt that was enough for me. I liked it, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t think I can watch four films of nothing but random deaths and near escapes. I’m sure this is one of those films you’ve already decided to buy before you even read about it here, so…yeah. Rated R and out on Blu-Ray and DVD.
50 Dead Men Walking – Starring: Ben Kingsley, Jim Sturgess, Rose McGowan, Natalie Press
Based on the real life of a young guy in Belfast who has been hired by the British secret service to spy on the IRA during the height of the conflict between Ireland and England, this film is worth watching. It’ll keep you glued to the screen for the majority of the time if you like spy thrillers. Rated R and out on Blu-Ray and DVD.
10 Things I Hate About You(2 disc special edition) – Starring: Heath Ledger, Julia Stiles, Joseph Gordon-Levitt
This re-release of the 1999 retelling of Shakespeare’s ‘Taming of the Shrew’ is actually pretty good. No, I’m not saying that just because Heath Ledger’s in it. I really liked it when I saw it in high school. I haven’t seen it since so maybe re-watching it now will make a difference. The special edition includes a digital copy and a new documentary about the film itself. Rated PG-13.
Chuck: The Complete Second Season – Zachary Levi, Yvonne Strahovski
Never seen it but I hear good things!
Super Friends: Season One, Volume One
Who doesn’t love the Super Friends?? Now you can own 8 of the 1973 series’s episodes! I know you’re tempted to buy it.
Street Fighter 2 disc Blu-ray/DVD combo set – Jean Claude Van Damme
Yes the 1994 Street Fighter movie is out in all of it’s Blu-Ray glory! Buy it now or else! Come on you know you would rather watch this than Legend of Chun Li. This one’s got Van Damme, what’s the other one got? That’s right …nothing.
