Legend Of The Seeker – Season 1 Review
Posted in Reviews on Sunday, October 25th, 2009 by Rob Heath | View Comments
I first came across Legend Of The Seeker back in 2008 during the San Diego Comic-Con. I attended a panel for the show in which the show’s creator Sam Raimi (director of Evil Dead & Spider-Man) appeared for.
The panel was boring and the teaser they showed left me wanting to book it for the door. So, why would I want to even give the series a chance? What made me get the show on DVD? Well, to make a long story short, I was browsin’ “dem internets” and I came across a long clip of the show that made me take an interest. By that time, however, the show had already done its run, so I wasn’t able to catch it on TV.
So when the opportunity arose for me to grab it on DVD, I took advantage of that opportunity and now I am here today to tell you whether or not Legend of the Seeker is worth you seeking out on DVD. Oooohh, snap. I am so good with those pun catch lines.
Full review in the full post.
Instead of filling this page with three paragraphs of bullshit before you get to the answer you really want to know, I’ll save you and me the time and tell you Legend Of The Seeker is actually pretty awesome.
You wanna know why? Well, then read on

Legend of the Seeker is enjoyable to watch for many reasons. Visually, it goes the extra mile to please the eyes with some excellent cinematography and special effects that make me feel like I am that much closer to actually watching a movie.
Story wise, it’s not the least bit original, but it’s not a setup that I am tired of yet. It’s your classic story of a young man who is destined to become “the one” and defeat an evil lord who has cast a shadow of tyranny and despair across the lands his armies watch over. The show is actually based on the book series “The Sword of Truth” by Terry Goodkind that started in 1994 and ended in 2007.
While there are tons of plot cliches in shows that are inspired by books, shows, and movies that came before it, those plot elements don’t take away from the show and often times make for pretty entertaining episodes. I think the reason it also works so well is because you see character development through it, and the cast of the show is a likable one. So when they grow as a character, it’s fun and entertaining.

The acting itself could use improvements but it doesn’t cross any lines of “omg…this is so bad.” Just your usual extras and one-episode characters that aren’t up to the same acting level chops as the main cast.
What I liked most about the show is that every episode seems very well-paced, fresh, and never recycled. Honestly, every episode felt like a mini movie to me and I had to double check online to make sure I wasn’t watching a one-season show.
I give Legend of the Seeker a 4/5. While I really liked the show, I can’t give it a perfect score due to minor imperfections and plot holes. But it’s still a great show that’s worth watching at least a handful of episodes before you decide if it’s for you or not.
